Drylands Resilience Action (DRA) is a Kenyan Public Benefit Organization (PBO) specialized in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus in Kenya's Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs).
Headquartered in Isiolo with operations across Samburu, Marsabit, and adjacent counties, DRA delivers scalable, data-driven resilience for pastoralist communities. We are positioned to lead multi-million-euro consortia aligned with Kenya's Ending Drought Emergencies (EDE) framework, Vision 2030, devolved climate finance, and global SDGs.

DRA designs interventions to address multiple crises simultaneously, tackling root causes rather than symptoms.
Anticipatory action: real-time groundwater monitoring, fodder banking, emergency water access.
Reduced vulnerability to shocks and emergency response costs.
Climate-smart livelihoods: water-energy-food (WEF) systems, secure community land tenure, market linkages.
Pastoralist households transitioned into sustainable value chains.
Resource diplomacy: inter-community dialogues, strengthened Community Land Act governance.
Reduction of resource-based violence through shared management accords.
If we secure communal land rights and install climate-smart water systems,
And we establish gender-inclusive resource management committees,
Then resource-based conflict will decline and household incomes will diversify,
Leading to northern Kenya where drylands become resilient economic landscapes rather than crisis zones.
Indigenous lands defended with High Court precedents for collective tenure
Reduction in conflict disputes through integrated peace programs
Of engaged communities secured land tenure rights
Pioneered CLMCs that informed the Community Land Act implementation
Deep field presence through community structures in hard-to-reach corridors (aligned with FLLoCA and Charter for Change).
GIS mapping, climate modelling, digital M&E systems for real-time data and anticipatory interventions.
